Stephanie Hicks born and raised in a small family oriented town in South Carolina. Growing up in a strong Christian home. Faith and honesty is strongly rooted in her blood.  Nurturing and protecting natural hair is not just her career, it's her passion. 

 

2018 Step began her journey in hair care. A few months in she realized that locs were her passion. She began doing all the research to find the best institution where she could master her craft. 

 

In Columbia 2019, Step completed her cosmetology course. After completion she contemplated what was next for her. She knew that she was destined for bigger, greater things. Where to begin? What is my purpose? What services do I want to provide? How can I make all this happen while providing a safe, loving and nurturing home for my daughter? All questions that kept Step up at night. Finally she knew what her goal was. Now for the plan.

 

Working at a small booth in 2020, Step formulated her plan. This plan was quickly put into action to provide a relaxed and family oriented place to nurture natural hair. During the long sleepless nights putting her plans into action she would her mother quote this same scripture over and over again. Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. This kept Step grounded and focused on the task at hand. 

 

One year into Covid pandemic clients weren't coming to get their hair done in fear of the virus. The barbershop closed its doors. Trying to figure out how she was going to continue to feed and provide for her daughter as a single mother. Opening a shop with her own personal flares, allowed Step to balance a healthy work and home life. 2021 A’Mirah’s Beauty Empire was born and the dream began to become a reality. Business was growing.

 

2022 the year of Step da Loc Goat. Stepping out on faith, Step went to Florida to add another skill to her craft. Step da Loc Goat sat with the greatest locticians to master wicks. This was the hardest time of her journey having to leave her baby home, while she worked towards something that would better her future. “ Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness. “ Napoleon Hill

 

The here and now growth is all that can be seen. Hair care products, hair accessories, personal hair consultations, loc maintenance and styling classes, and a clothing line are all in development. Step is catering to a very large versatile group of clients. While providing special catered services to fit each one of her clients particular needs. 

 

Each year there is growth. While Step grows she continues to give appreciation to her clients. By throwing a client appreciation day. Letting her clients know that they are more than a head in her styling chair. Showing them that she cares and appreciates each and everyone of them and the different qualities that they bring. Step looks forward to continuing to grow and provide excellent service to her current clients and future clientele.
